About the Event

GWBT I.G.N.I.T.E.D. Mentoring Masterclasses: Impacting Girls Nationwide with Integrity to create Trailblazing and Exceptional Difference-makers in their communities. This program will enhance Literacy, Life skills, STEM training, bully prevention, self-esteem enhancement, leadership skills, and business and financial literacy to girls that resides in marginalized communities within Fulton County. Our program aims to cultivate, inspire, and empower at risk girls between the ages of 9-17 years old. Today, girls are very impressionable. This demographic of girls is being exposed to bullying, human trafficking, self-esteem issues, and underestimation of self-worth.

Sesssion 1:

Healthy Relationships Workshop

Facilitated by Shawnta Jackson, MPH

Overview

In this lesson the girls will learn the characteristics and benefits of healthy relationships as well as the characteristics and potential harm of unhealthy relationships. The girls will also learn about the importance of effective communication in helping to develop and maintain healthy relationships. Styles of communication and the potential impact of technology on effective communication will be addressed as well.

About the Facilitator

Since 2009, Shawnta Jackson has served as a facilitator and guest speaker for various audiences, including youth and community groups. Her career in public health began when she independently taught nutrition education to 700 students at five elementary schools in Las Vegas, NV, as an intern for a local public health department. This opened the door for her to serve as a health educator providing comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education to youth in group homes, halfway houses, juvenile detention, foster care and other non-traditional settings. During this time, Shawnta also worked collaboratively with her peers across Nevada by leading the activities of the Southern Nevada Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition and serving as the Southern Nevada Vice President of the Nevada Public Health Association.    Today, Shawnta is Founder & Chief Executive of Cause Engagement Associates where she supports the efforts of socially conscious initiatives across the United States. She holds a Master of Public Health degree in social and behavioral health from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations from Columbia College Chicago.  Visit Shawnta's personal website at ShawntaJackson.com.

Session 2:

I Am SHEE’s workshop

Facilitated by Marta Bell

Overview: will focus on the 4 synonyms that SHEE stands for:

S-Strong, H-Honest, E-Educated and E-Empowered. The goal of this workshop is to build character and

confidence in young girls providing a working definition of what each synonym means. Using an example

of a strong woman in today’s society, providing some information and obstacles that the person had to

overcome as well as providing some positive quotes on each synonym, while delivering an inspirational

and empowering presentation. It will be interactive – like a talk station giving opportunities for the

young girls to engage in conversation on each of the synonyms.

About the Facilitator

Marta Bell is a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Indiana. Marta holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal

Justice from Indiana University, Bloomington and a Master’s in Criminal Justice, Public Administration

from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Marta spent 29 years as a Law Enforcement Officer for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department ,

retiring in 2012. Marta is professionally trained in domestic violence, intimate partner stalking and

sexual assault. As a survivor of domestic violence, Marta considers it a blessing to have had a career that

she also regards as a ministry opportunity to teach, educate, and change minds about domestic abuse.

As a consultant and sought-after empowerment speaker Marta has touch many lives speaking for public

and private groups, organizations, and conferences, utilizing her experience, education, and her personal

story in her book: One Voice Many Faces. Marta is an empowerment advocate and preventionist for

Sesssion 3:

What do you see Workshop

Facilitated by Dr. Joyvina Evans

Dr. Joy will discuss the importance of self-esteem and how self-esteem leads to making good decisions. Dr. Joy will walk the girls through exercises to help increase their self-esteem, confidence, and character.

About the Facilitator

Joyvina Evans (Dr. Joy) is a self-care advocate, author, speaker, higher education administrator, and creator of Confidence Academy. Confidence Academy carries the mission of cultivating and inspiring confidence, character, boldness, and courage. Dr. Joy has her Ph.D. and M.S. in Public Health, M.S. in Administration and B.B.A. in Business. She also completed the Women in Education Leadership Program through Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and earned the Executive Leadership and High-Performance Leadership Certificates from Cornell University.

The registration cost is free, but it is a private event so it is important to RSVP. There will be celebrity meet and greet, photo booths,panels, workshops, and most of all fun!

Each girl will get a welcome kit and gift bag full of supplies for the program, hygiene products, and swag items.

There will be workshop sessions and on-line entertainment such as: A virtual photo booth, games, and a DJ Dance party.
